A bachelor’s degree (22.7%) is nearly as common as a high school diploma (25.0%), the most common highest level of education. At the other end, fewer than one in ten (9.7%) did not complete high school.

Educational attainment is valuable to the Economic Research Center as we work to understand Illinois’ workforce and talent profile. It shows the education levels employers can draw on as they grow and expand in Illinois. Beyond the statewide profile, the Regional Research Pilot Program (R2P2) uses educational attainment data to see differences across Illinois’ regional economies, leveraging this data to help communities across the state make more informed decisions.
