With a $1.2T+ economy and a growing roster of global companies, Illinois will make its case at the country’s premier foreign direct investment summit

Illinois icon Abe Lincoln joined Team Illinois at the 2025 SelectUSA Investment Summit.

Illinois EDC and Team Illinois are headed to National Harbor, Maryland, for the 2026 SelectUSA Investment Summit, taking place May 3–6 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center.

Hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce, SelectUSA is the country’s premier forum for foreign direct investment (FDI), bringing together economic development organizations, business leaders, and international investors from more than 100 countries.

Illinois arrives at the summit as a well-established, growing hub for global investment:

  • The state ranks #2 in the nation for corporate expansions and relocations, and Chicago holds the #1 spot among U.S. metros for 13 years running (Site Selection).
  • Illinois has a diverse economy that exceeds $1.2T, with 30+ Fortune 500 headquarters and 6K foreign firms that call the state home. Fun fact: If Illinois were a country, its GDP would rank among the world’s 20 largest!
  • From quantum computing to advanced manufacturing, the state has attracted a wide variety of international innovators. Recent examples include CSL (Australia), DMG MORI (Japan), Hyundai Translead (subsidiary of South Korea-based Hyundai Motor Company), Pasqal (France), and Damera (Canada).

Team Illinois will be represented at booth 411 by a coalition of regional and statewide partners, including:

  • Illinois EDC
  • Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity
  • Ameren Illinois
  • Chicago Southland Economic Development Corporation
  • City of Rockford
  • iFAB Tech Hub
  • Kendall County
  • Lake County Partners
  • Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce

Together, the Team Illinois representatives will highlight Illinois’ strategic North American location, its deep and diverse talent pool, and its momentum across future-forward industries.
